Gemer Machu Picchu

The place is suitable as a base for cycling on the Muránska plain and the whole of Gemer. We offer guests to rent trekking bikes and e-bikes.

The swimming pool in Hnúšt' is 8 km away, the Kurinec swimming pool and the Teplý Vrch water reservoir are both about 30 km away.

The most beautiful activity for children in the area is a visit to the gopher hunt in Murán. The village of Polom itself is closed off from the world, you can let the children explore the surroundings with the certainty that they won't be hit by a car. They will see classic village life - geese, ducks, chickens and goats stroll around the village, sheep graze in the gardens, cows, sheep, horses and donkeys graze in the meadows around the village.

The village is located in the mountains with a lot of possibilities for shorter and longer hiking. The land is situated directly on the historical Mária Széchy Road and on the red hiking trail leading up to the Muránska plain, the edge of which starts already on the Tŕstie hill, about 2 hours on foot from the cottage. There are several possibilities for short hikes in the vicinity of the cottage, surrounded by mountain meadows, for the unpretentious hiker.

In case you are interested in riding more people, we will bring you horses for an additional fee or we will direct you to friends at the horse farm, which is 10 km away. Even complete beginners can ride there, and those who already know how to stay in the saddle can take a trip through the woods and meadows accompanied by an instructor.

We also offer our guests guided tours to the most beautiful mysterious sites of industrial and mining history, natural beauties, caves inaccessible to the public, or gothic churches with expert interpretation. For families with children we organize horse riding school, horseback riding tours, gold prospecting, mineral prospecting, mining museum with entrance to the underground and many many more. If you decide to spend more days with us, we will prepare a tailor-made excursion menu according to your preferences and the age of your children, which you can do on your own, as well as more adventurous activities to which we will accompany you (at an additional cost). The region of Gemer-Malohonta and the Murano Plain is best explored with a local guide who knows all the secrets.
