Cottage at Sychrov Chateau with a 2400 m² garden with views of the Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area #6178

For campers who prefer a spot with a great hiking location (near a major intersection of hiking and biking trails), who love views of the countryside, and who want plenty of privacy and a spacious plot all to themselves. For those who don’t mind the lack of modern conveniences and the associated comforts (this is not glamping!!!!! :-)). The cabin is modest, but I believe this is offset by the excellent location and the above-average quality of the property in many respects.

PROPERTY CHARACTERISTICS:
The property is large (120 x 20 m!!! i.e., for comparison, slightly longer than a standard soccer field). It’s fenced, mowed regularly about once a month (the date is listed in the “News” section), and you have it all to yourself—there’s no other camping area here, nor is the owner’s house on the property. I believe the property is safe even for small children (tested on my own :-). The castle is only 300 m away to the north as the crow flies. In front of you (to the south) is just a large field surrounded by forests and offering beautiful views of Všeň, Vyskeř, Kozlov, the Příhrazské Rocks, and Mužský Hill (looking toward the Český ráj Protected Landscape Area). I’m sure you’ll also love the wider area around the castle—there’s plenty to explore (see suggestions below).

THERE IS NO ELECTRICITY HERE (!!!); basic lighting is provided by solar-powered lamps as a compromise, and a solar charger is available for charging small electronic devices (see below for a list of what you can expect). As soon as the sun comes out, be sure to charge everything you need in time. The water for showering and washing dishes is cold—it meets SČVK standards, meaning it is DRINKABLE. On sunny days, a solar shower (40 L) provides hot water.

Although you’re just a short distance from one of the most visited landmarks in the Liberec Region, it’s usually quiet here; at night, you won’t be disturbed by lights or noise. There’s a big difference in tourist traffic around the castle between weekdays and weekends, as well as on days when various cultural events are held at the castle. This is not an isolated property, so it’s important not to disturb any (potential) neighbors (on the adjacent lot) who come here (usually for the weekend) to take a break from civilization. If you enjoy noise, shouting, or loud music, this is not the right place for you. For this reason, the property is not intended for hosting any celebrations.

COTTAGE DESCRIPTION:
The cottage measures 3 x 6 m inside; the covered patio with seating measures approximately 2 x 6 m; and in the rear section of the same size, you’ll find firewood. Basic insulation, the nature of the exterior walls, and the “A”-frame roof help minimize temperature fluctuations throughout the day. It’s not uncomfortably hot during the day, and it’s not cold at night. It is not suitable for stays during the cold season; there is no heating, and you should take this into account.

SLEEPING - CAPACITY:
Large single bed 2.95 x 2 m (3 mattresses
120 90 90), which comfortably sleeps 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 small children. (i.e., the cabin’s capacity). You must bring your own bedding or sleeping bags!!!!

CAMPING
You can also set up a tent (or tents) on the property, e.g., for children, if they’d prefer a more adventurous night sleeping outdoors rather than inside. Ideally, place the tent as far down in the garden as possible (beautiful views). There is no limit on the size or number of tents.

COOKING:
A two-burner gas stove with a 2-kg spare gas canister is provided for cooking. Basic cookware is available. For washing dishes, there is an outdoor stainless-steel sink with a drainer or 2 plastic basins.
The only natural refrigeration method is cooling with cold well water. Otherwise, storing food without an electricity source is problematic. Please take this into account.

PARKING:
Parking is required on the property directly behind the mature hedge near the gate. Please use this designated spot and do not drive your car all the way up to the cabin (the clay soil softens as soon as it rains)!!! This does not apply during dry weather—you may park next to the cabin in the shade under the trees. You can park anything here—a car, trailer, or RV. There is plenty of space. Four concrete slabs are available (in the corner of the garden) for leveling axles if needed.

HIKING OPPORTUNITIES:
The location serves as an ideal starting point and base for exploring the beauty of the Bohemian Paradise and the Jizera Mountains in particular; the Lusatian Mountains and the western part of the Krkonoše Mountains are also very easily accessible. Civilization is within easy reach (Turnov 6 km, Jablonec nad Nisou and Liberec approx. 15 km). The connection to the R35 Liberec–Turnov expressway is only 2 km away. The Sychrov train station, for train trips, is approx. 2 km away.

LIGHTING AND CHARGING:
- 2 x 4W solar lamps—must be left outside to recharge during the day (on the tile between the tank and the bench), or can be charged more quickly using a USB-C solar charger
- 28W solar charger for 2x USB ports, max 4A => sufficient for standard charging of cell phones, etc.
- 20,000 mAh power bank (it’s a good idea to recharge it occasionally using the solar charger)
- Flashlight—for trips to the restroom, to the fire, etc.

DOG
A dog that doesn’t leave piles of hair behind and has a calm temperament (won’t disturb people nearby by barking) is allowed, but under no circumstances may it be allowed on the bed. It must not be left alone on the property. It is primarily important to me that the place be child-friendly (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and that the “no-campers” code be observed, which conflicts with absolute freedom for dogs. Hair, waste, howling, and barking must be kept under control while the dog is present. MOST IMPORTANTLY, CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG THOROUGHLY!!!! If you’re traveling with a dog, please keep this in mind.

TRASH:
The recycling bins are about 150 m away by the access road (to the west). Put anything that decomposes naturally into the “compost” bin by the restroom; the rest—anything you can’t take home for whatever reason—can be left on the property in bags behind the fence by the parking lot—I’ll take it away.

ABOUT THE PRICE:
20% is the commission charged by the bezkempu portal; plus a new 34 Kč service fee; approximately 15% goes toward government levies (taxes, other fees, and associated bureaucratic costs, etc.); approximately 30% covers ongoing operating costs (regular maintenance of the very large property is particularly demanding). The small profit that remains is just enough to cover part of the costs for off-season repairs, depreciation, and the renewal of equipment at this bezkempu site. We do this only because we use the campsite ourselves and like the concept; the space is put to optimal use and brings joy to others as well. If we were to look at it purely from an economic standpoint, based on our experience from two seasons, operating it would be nonsensical.
