I ended up at the property because I was drawn to its secluded location and the positive reviews from previous visitors, and I wanted to see permaculture in practice again after some time. Meeting the children was a surprise. You could say that as soon as I arrived, the kids surrounded me, and somehow you just become part of the family’s daily life. The kids run around the property and you can’t avoid them, but that’s part of the experience. I had the chance to have dinner and breakfast with the family, and it was really nice. I’m not a vegetarian, but I really enjoyed the spreads and the food in general—the chutney and bread—and I was struck by how nicely the Lesomil people live. It’s not for everyone, but at the same time, it makes you think.
