cycling
The area around the meadow is perfect for cycling and trips to the Brdy Mountains. You can set out right from here and choose between shorter, leisurely loops and longer routes with steeper climbs.
Popular routes pass through Voltuš, Hutě pod Třemšínem, Rožmitál pod Třemšínem, and Třemšín. More experienced cyclists can continue deeper into the Brdy Mountains, for example toward Buková, the Padrťské ponds, Míšov, or Nepomuk.
The surrounding area features a mix of quiet roads, paved forest trails, and dirt paths. The terrain is therefore particularly well-suited for trekking, mountain, and gravel bikes, but many of the trips can also be completed on a standard bike or e-bike.
Right in the vicinity, you can take, for example, a 16-km loop through Hutě, a 21-km loop through Voltuš, or an approximately 26-km loop through Voltuš, Třemšín, and Hutě. Those looking for a full-day trip can continue deeper into the Brdy Mountains and connect to other marked bike trails.
The beautiful Brdy countryside, forests, and relatively light traffic make this a pleasant base for a few days of cycling.
In winter, the surrounding area is ideal for cross-country skiing. When snow conditions are good, you can set out on cross-country skis practically right from here and continue through Voltuš and Hutě toward Třemšín and into the Brdy forests.
There is also a marked cross-country ski trail approximately 9.5 km long leading from Rožmitál to Třemšín, which passes through Hutě pod Třemšínem. Other popular cross-country skiing areas are located above Voltuš and deeper into the Brdy Mountains.
In the Voltuš area, the trails are not regularly groomed by machines—depending on the amount of snow, the trails here are primarily natural or formed by cross-country skiers. For lovers of cross-country skiing, tranquility, and winter nature, the Brdy Mountains are a beautiful place to explore.
water sports
During the summer months, you can cool off at the swimming area by Sadoňský Pond in Rožmitál pod Třemšínem, which is just a few minutes’ drive from the meadow. The complex includes a swimming area, grassy areas for relaxing, a children’s play area, and a sports field.
You’ll find other natural swimming spots in the wider area around Rožmitál and the Brdy Mountains.
hiking
The meadow is a great starting point for hiking trips to the Brdy Mountains and the area around Třemšín. A major advantage is that the Way of St. James runs right past this spot, so you can set out on your hike directly from the meadow.
There are marked hiking trails in the area leading through Voltuš, Hutě pod Třemšínem, and the Brdy forests. A popular destination is Třemšín (827 m above sea level), which can be reached via Hutě and the Knížecí Trail. At the summit, there is a Baroque chapel and the ruins of a former castle.
From the meadow, you can also head toward Voltuš to the memorial mound of Jakub Jan Ryba, continue along forest paths to Štadruž, or plan a longer loop through Třemšín and Hutě.
The surrounding area offers everything from short walks to hikes lasting several hours or an entire day. You’ll find mostly forests, meadows, quiet trails, and the beautiful landscape of the southern Brdy Mountains.
