The surrounding countryside is crisscrossed by a network of cycling routes that wind along relatively flat dirt roads and past numerous ponds.

There are many ponds, old quarries, and the Otava River in the area

The surrounding area is a great place for hiking and cycling. You can explore mysterious spots, discover traditional architecture, or simply stroll through the local forests. The “Vintířova stezka” pilgrimage trail passes through the area. Nearby, you can visit Horažďovice at the edge of the Šumava Mountains, the castle in Lnáře, or the water castle in Blatná with its park, where dozens of fallow deer roam freely. The nearby Kadovské Ponds form a picturesque system of water bodies on the border between the Blatná and Strakonice regions. The ponds are a paradise for nature lovers. In addition to common species of waterfowl, with a little luck you may even spot birds of prey, including the white-tailed eagle. Some of the smaller forest ponds with clear water are suitable for swimming, even during the hottest summer days. A trip to the ponds can be perfectly combined with a visit to the famous Kadov rocking stone, or to the rock formations known as the Big and Little Devil’s Bracelet or the Sacrificial Stone.

During the season, we’ll recommend where to go mushroom hunting. In winter, pack your cross-country or downhill skis—the Šumava ski resorts aren’t far away. In case of bad weather, there’s a water park in Horažďovice, just 5 km away. Want to spend the day canoeing down the Otava River? We’ll provide a canoe and arrange transportation. Or how about a stylish trip with the wind in your hair in a World War II-era jeep?
