Welcome to the new 2024 season. This is the 6th season the drying room has served you, and we're glad you're still enjoying heading our way.

You can still order homemade sourdough bread or Wallachian frgal, which I will be happy to bake for you (if I am home). All the information about the drying room, its surroundings and where to go is written in our guide, which is available at the drying room.

Our homestead is located in the meadows between the villages of Zděchov and Huslenky.

Perhaps you will also be charmed by the local genius loci of centuries-old timbered houses and the still beating life of the shepherds.

One of the timbered cottages stands amongst the gnarled fruit trees covered with lichen, a traditional fruit drying house that only a few years ago exhaled the sweet smell of drying sloes or pears into the surroundings.

We have adapted the drying room so that you can have a good time here. There is sleeping space for about 4 people, a comfortable table and bench and a tea corner (kettle, coffee, tea, sugar, cups). In front of the drying room you can sit with a view of the surroundings.

The drying house is suitable for romantics and adventurers of all kinds :) Don't expect a comfortable cabin though, we left everything as it was. The temperature outside equals the temperature inside.

A grill is available for rent. Flush toilet is within 50m on our property, also utility water. Drinking bottled water from a nearby well is also available on site free of charge. You will find several useful delicacies in the stone glasshouse.
WiFi does not reach here, but most operators already have their 4G. If there's plenty of running water to feed the outdoor tub, you can refresh yourself in it, and there's also an indoor kitchen if you need it.

We will be happy to advise you on where to go, what to do in the area. If you have forgotten something, ask us, maybe we can lend it to you :)

Accessibility

Access to the property may be a problem in winter

Access to the property may be difficult in rainy weather

The road is gravelled and paved, there are no potholes to damage your car. It's passable even for two-wheelers. In winter, with a layer of snow, only with chains or 4x4. In the rain it can be muddy in places, but does not restrict driving up to the property, only parking up by the drying shed can be a bit of a pain for inexperienced drivers - no problem, you can park elsewhere.

Restriction of the access road

The land can be reached by caravan, caravan, tractor... So far, only a tall modern shit truck that was bothered by the corner of the roof of the barn, which encroaches on the road at the bottom of the barn.

In the case of favourable conditions, the cross-country ski track is groomed in Zděchov and the ski lift is running. Otherwise, within 25km there is a village promised to winter sports - Velké Karlovice

There is a wooden tub with water from the local stream.New and in summer very attractive swimming pool in Zděchov with excellent facilities. Super tip for a hiking trip - 3,6km Also 17km away very pleasant swimming in Lake Balaton in Nový Hrozenkov. Natural reservoir with pebble and sandy beaches and also good facilities including beach volleyball.

1) The drying room is comfortable for about 4 people. 2) Please consider bringing your pets. We don't have a problem with them as long as they don't have a problem with the surrounding animals (chickens, cats, dogs, sheep, cows).3) Please consider our neighbors and their "territories" :)4) It is necessary to arrange a time to arrive so that we can show you around and explain and show you everything in peace. If we are not on site, we are on call and will show you around the property without us being there :) A map is available on site.5) Please note that the drying room is NOT a furnished cabin. There are no windows in the drying room, there is no heating. There is a tea corner on site (kettles, teas, coffee, sugar, mugs). Otherwise, NOTHING :) But we can lend you something, or you can use our outdoor kitchen by arrangement. There are sheep hides in the sleeping area, but NOT your mattresses or other mattresses (otherwise you probably wouldn't sleep comfortably)

A completely unique place that breathed the magic of the old times. The drying room was a birthday surprise for my husband. We both loved the place and had a great time. I was a little worried about the already cooler October weather, but we were well prepared and didn't feel cold at all at night. We even slept better than at home, in total darkness and with the sounds of nature. The fire pit right next to the cabin was great and we made full use of it in the evening. There are lovely walks and longer hikes in the area, we did a circuit of the area meeting hardly anyone which was great. And one of the biggest bonuses, which would make me repeat this stay straight away, was the homemade bread and frgal from the owner. I've never eaten better bread and frgal :-) So thank you so much for such a magical place that the owners share and I definitely recommend it even late in the year, it has its own charm :-)

Beautiful views, very good facilities in the area (kitchen, cellar, toilet), hosts very nice. We would come again, but only when it is a bit warmer at night, because we slept upstairs with a two-year-old, for whom 5 degrees in the morning was probably too little :))) But he loved the local cats!

The drying room at Hráček certainly has its charm. We were a bit affected by the weather -Brr , in short it was cold and the temperature outside meant the temperature inside. The romantic drumming of the rain on the tin roof helped us ride the wave of joy but cold is cold :D
So I recommend taking full advantage of the warm summer days. The views are more than peaceful and breathtaking at the same time. The power of Wallachian nature surrounds you as soon as you arrive and you have no chance to escape its gaze.
And for that we thank you :)

The drying room is part of a nice, small settlement in a tucked away corner of the Beskydy Mountains, in the vicinity of which you can find nice views of meadows and forests. The recommendation is homemade bread and frgal from the owner.

It's a magical place. Ever-present greenery, grazing cows and inquisitive cats. The property is a long way from the main roads. At night, it's perfectly dark, quiet and peaceful.
A refreshing cold shower in the barn and as a novelty a flushing toilet, so luxury. 👍 Equipped garden kitchen where you will find everything for basic needs.
The drying room is really as it is outside, but August nights are cool here and it's really worth the romance.
The owner was not present on arrival, but a very nicely produced printed guidebook was waiting for me in the drying room with practical information and tips for the trip.
The drying room is unlocked and freely accessible, so consider what valuables you are taking with you. I recommend bringing resealable bags, crates and not giving the local mice a chance. 🐁 I recommend a stay here with all ten. 👍
