Nymburk - the royal town on the Elbe #3535

This is a plot of land (building plot) in a quiet location on the outskirts of the town. The royal town was founded in the second half of the 13th century by Přemysl Otakar II, the Iron and Gold King, sometime around 1275 on the site of the original fortified settlement. Present-day Nymburk is the centre of the Central Polabí region, a town with a centuries-old tradition of brewing beer, an important railway junction, a town of monuments, culture, greenery, sports and cycling (the Elbe and Hrabal cycling trails). Nymburk is the town where the writer Bohumil Hrabal spent his youth (permanent exhibition of Bohumil Hrabal in the Museum of Homeland History, Postřižinský brewery). The historic centre of Nymburk with its medieval walls, St. Jilja's Cathedral, a preserved double water fortification system, Renaissance town hall, Turkish Tower and other monuments was declared a town conservation area in 1992.
