A meadow in the heart of the Volov Hills

Welcome to our meadow in the valley of the Smolník stream. We offer camping surrounded by the nature of the wild Volov Hills.The meadow is located on the outskirts of the village under the forest. You will find plenty of privacy, but at the same time it is a short walk to other services. The village Smolník is located on the border of Gemer and Spiš, it has a rich past and so here, in addition to the beautiful surrounding countryside, you will also find interesting mining and technical monuments. Discover the adits in the vicinity (one of the nature trails leads along the edge of our meadow), the old tobacco factory building, the historical centre of the village, or the nearby taich - Lake Úhorná, which is a popular place for swimming, water sports, as well as fishing.Cyclists, hikers and adventurers will come into their own - in the immediate vicinity passes the Path of Heroes of the Slovak National Uprising (Cesta hrdinov SNP), but there are plenty of opportunities. The Volovské vrchy mountains with their forest remnants are a paradise for nature lovers - they are a protected bird area and are one of the few places where you can still find the ruffed grouse, but they are also inhabited by, for example, the lynx.For a relaxing break, just take a stroll through the surrounding woods and meadows behind the hills, enjoy the view of the valley from the gigantic bench on the hill opposite, discover the history of the Rotenberg adit along the nature trail next to the meadow, or take a walk in the nearby Štós spa with the cleanest air in Slovakia. There are several grocery stores, a restaurant and a pub/café in the village.Apart from the camping site, we do not offer any other facilities yet, but we plan to have a dry toilet, outdoor shower and picnic area ready for you in the 2024 season. For the time being, we would welcome trailers and vans with their own sanitary facilities (or tents in the same group of campers). Once toilets are built, campers are also welcome :)If necessary, arrangements can be made for access to electricity or utility water a few dozen yards from the campsite. The meadow is flat and conveniently accessible by a paved road.Dogs are welcome, but as we like to have lynx, roe deer, and our neighbor's sheep, we recommend that you keep your pets on a leash.The campsite is managed by OZ Medená dolina (Medená dolina OZ).*More campsites will be available in the meadow in the months of July-August, please note this when booking in advance.
