Where do the property ratings come from?
A very nice, clean environment and surroundings. The camping site is shaded by trees, so we hardly felt the heat at all, even though it was in the 30s. The spot was very cozy, and the clotheslines were a big help—we hung our laundry and a string of lights on them. You can reach the snack bar from the back by crossing a small bridge over a stream. The landlady was very friendly and helpful. There were restrooms, drinking water, and electricity available for an extra fee. Unfortunately, the shower wasn’t working. The playground was just right. There was an event/concert taking place during our stay, so there was also a bouncy castle.
It’s a 5-minute walk to the water, but the ground is quite muddy, so if you mind dirtier water, don’t go into the reservoir. However, you can rent a paddleboard right at the snack bar. There’s also a thermal swimming pool a few kilometers away for those looking for a more challenging experience. It’s less than a 10-minute drive to Partizánske.
If you have a low-clearance vehicle, be careful—the access road runs behind the snack bar across a field. If it rains, I recommend a 4x4. Be careful with a trailer; there’s less room to maneuver, but it’s doable.
I was a little disappointed by our “neighbors” while camping; from Saturday to Sunday, they were pretty drunk, noisy, and at 2 a.m. they were yelling at each other, swearing, and blasting loud music. But there’s nothing you can do about that. Despite the noise from the concerts, our 3-year-old daughter fell asleep and only started waking up when the bands finished playing and the music stopped :D Anyway, if you like absolute silence, this place might not be quite right for you. Music plays from the snack bar during the day, and there’s a road nearby where you can hear cars quite clearly.
If you’re looking for a really cheap place to camp, even during a heat wave, I recommend it. There are plenty of places to go on trips with kids. Also suitable for fishermen.
Plan to set up by a stream under trees that provide pleasant shade. In wetter weather, expect soft ground. This makes maneuvering the RV more difficult. A mover will be a great help.
