Spring is in full swing and you are looking forward to more trips with the residents to see beautiful places. This time it may be to a forgotten crystal water quarry that will saturate you with silence and beauty.
The quarry lies on the border of forest and pastures in the undiscovered Smrčiny Nature Park, at the entrance to the Ašský výběžek (7 km from Františkovy Lázně). For the hardier ones, a pleasant swim in clear water awaits, with the possibility of diving. You can take a walk in the forests of the nature park or go cycling to discover the region along the cycle path next to the quarry.
There are many tourist destinations in the surroundings: the Františkovy Lázně (7 km), the Cheb Monument Zone (14km), the Vildštejn Castle (12km), the Seeberg Castle (5km), the Háj u Aše lookout tower (14km), the Czech Yellowstone - the Soos Geological Park (14km) and also places that J.W. Goethe loved to visit - the Komorní hůrka volcano (12km) or the nearby Goethe Rocks (5km).
If you plan your getaway well in advance, you can enjoy a pleasant swim in the clear water in summer with the opportunity to dive and search for the drowned Forman carriage.
A stone's throw away is the eco-farm in Polná, where you can blend in with country life or explore the surroundings from the horse saddle. If you're friends with a golf club, the nearby 18-hole course in Hazlov (4km) awaits you.
Visit the most westerly getaway in the country with a dense network of cycle paths.
Summer evenings at this quarry are truly magical / chilled drinks can be found in the self-service bar.

One of the 11 cycling routes in Aš leads directly around the quarry. This area has the densest network of cycling routes in the Karlovy Vary Region. Ride through the PP Smrčiny between Cheb and Aš, or head across the border to the German Naturpark Fichtelgrbirge.

climbing

Goethe Rocks (6km) are the westernmost climbing locality in the Czech Republic. Some of the 113 routes are equipped with fixed belay.

winter sports

On the frozen surface you can skate in the quarry under suitable conditions. Watch out for holes in the ice - the quarry is frequented by hardy people! Trips on cross-country skis or snowshoes through the white silence are magical here.

water sports

Swimming is possible directly in the clean water of the quarry. Under the roof, you can take a dip in the Aquaforum Františkovy lázně (9km) or in the city spa in Bad Brambach (14km) or Bad Elster (24km).

hiking

Wander to the places J.W. Goethe liked to visit (Goethe's Rock, Chamber Hill). The circular route near Vernéřov will take you through the history of the region. On the German side, the Vogtland Panorama Weg, which is appreciated by tourists, leads through Bad Brambach.

Please observe the rules and regulations of the local Smrčiny Nature Park.Do not make noiseIt is a condition of the property and its immediate surroundings that you keep quiet at all times during your stay, including at night. It is forbidden to play loud music and thus disturb the whole surroundings.Do not fishFishing is forbidden. Please respect the life of the fish that bravely live in this "hungry water". You can feed them and you will be rewarded by their dancing around the food thrown in. Do not throw stones, sticks or other objects into the quarry.Do not set fireOnly a fire in a designated fire pit is allowed on the property. Do not cut live trees for firewood. The fire must be kept under constant control and properly extinguished when finished. Keep an eye on the current situation in the area, unless there is a fire ban/extreme drought.Do Not DisturbNo consumption of large quantities of alcohol or other addictive substances which may subsequently cause a nuisance to the surrounding area. We were the only "campers" on the site, there were 3 other caravans besides us. The site provides enough space for visitors not to be disturbed. Surprisingly, there was also enough firewood around the surrounding trees for the fire we cooked on. The site is clean and reasonably well maintained. We spent 3 nights camping here, our girls (11 and 6) were thrilled. A good place to go on trips - the whole of Cheb is within easy reach. We recommend not only Soos, but also the exceptionally preserved volcanoes (Komorní hůrka and Železná hůrka). We did not test the local fireplace equipment - we had our own. Everything was as described (which is not always the case in the Czech Republic). We will definitely come back! Stanislav and Tereza

A really quiet place on the border of forest and pasture. Despite the somewhat cramped space for camping, we could fit one Tee-pee, two tents, 8 campers and two dogs in the back of the site.Despite the partial bad weather, we had a nice week's holiday. In terms of amenities, there is a luxurious caddy with a view of the woods. We filled up our drinking water from a publicly accessible tap at Seeberg Castle. We made limited use of the swimming in the quarry due to the weather, but it was possible, even though the water was green with algae. The owner takes good care of all the camping places and responds helpfully to questions sent in when organising the stay.
